Abstract

Application of Vedic science for generating digital design engine, for a personalized dwelling unit is explored. The user data are fed into existing jyotisha software, which is based on Vedic sciences, yields resultant direction, and Ayadi values for further design. Using these values, digitally dwelling unit designs are generated.

1. Introduction

This project aims on developing a design engine, which generates the dwelling unit plan for a particular person; principles of Vedic science have been applied to the design engine. ‘OM’ sound prevails everywhere in nature source of Vedic science. Vedic science is a broad-spectrum which has scope in architectural designing, jyotisha shastra, yoga, varma, vastu and vedic mathematics.

2. Methodology

Methodologies followed in this study are descriptive and scientific methods. Critical analysis of various sources was done and coherently presented.

3. Vedic Science

Vedic science originated from the Vedas – Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva. Jyotisha calculations help determine directions and Ayadi values in Vastu Shastra.

4. Vastu Shastra

Vastu Shastra is an ancient science of India designated as Mayonic Science. It harmonizes architecture with cosmic and electromagnetic forces. Key components include Ayadi calculation, main door location, room dimensions, staircase, water sources and setbacks.

5. Structure of the Project

Birth data are fed into jyothida software to determine auspicious directions using astavargam calculations. Ayadi calculations determine plinth area which is applied to generate dwelling unit designs.

6. Concept of Design Engine

The workspace contains a matrix of blank pixels. User inputs are converted into tagged colored pixels and composed based on rules and efficiency testing through genetic algorithms.

7. Interface

The interface is tile-based. Data is imported through CSV or TXT files derived from Jyothida software. Generated options are tested and displayed in layout views.

8. Algorithm

The design engine is developed using ActionScript based on genetic algorithms where crossover and mutation principles generate optimal layouts.

9. Demonstration

A sample case demonstrates the process of acquiring birth data, ayadi calculation, vastu norms, and final design options based on auspicious dimensions.

10. Conclusion and Further Research

The digital design engine translates Vedic calculations into architectural layouts. Future research may extend into urban planning and temple architecture.
